Sterilization makes a difference: demographic analysis of spirodiclofen effects on Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae)

چکیده

Spirodiclofen is characterized by a relatively slow acaricidal action against adult females of the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae), with reduction their fecundity (eggs laid/female) and fertility hatched/female). Exposure pre-ovipositing T. to acaricide may affect population growth, considering that high reproduction young crucial in biology this colonizing species. Effects spirodiclofen on life-history traits parameters were evaluated demographic bioassay using age-stage two-sex life table, constructed fecundity-based fertility-based variants. The was applied series nine concentrations, starting from recommended field rate (96 mg/l). treatments concentrations ranging 12 - 96 mg/l significantly reduced longevity, while 27 40% didn’t lay eggs. lethal 2 21% females, whom large majority A considerable part surviving also failed eggs within first four post-treatment days (when around 50% all control laid) i.e., they sterilized acaricide. At same time, percentage dead rose 17 55%, mainly due mortality females. three highest (24 – mg/l) net reproductive (R0), intrinsic increase (r) finite (λ), 49-72%, 20-34%, 4-6%, respectively, compared control. This result sterilization treated combination longevity ones. Application table showed significant decrease r λ (by 23-40%, 4-7%, control), concentrations. short-lived transovarial toxic effect observed not sufficient cause parameters, those acquired table.

Effects of azadirachtin on Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) and its compatibility with predatory mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae) on strawberry.

BACKGROUND The spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, is the major strawberry pest in Brazil. The main strategies for its control comprise synthetic acaricides and predatory mites. The recent register of a commercial formula of azadirachtin (Azamax(®) 12 g L(-1) ) can be viable for control of T. urticae. In this work, the effects of azadirachtin on T. urticae and its compatibility with predatory mit...

Acaricidal activities of extracts of Kochia scoparia against Tetranychus urticae, Tetranychus cinnabarinus, and Tetranychus viennensis (Acari: Tetranychidae).

Extracts of an annual herbaceous plant, Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad (Macrophomina), were bioassayed to determine their acaricidal activities against Tetranychus urticae Koch, Tetranychus cinnabarinus (Boisduval), and Tetranychus viennensis Zacher (Acari: Tetranychidae) in the laboratory. Extracts had both contact and systemic toxicity to these mites. Three solvents were tested for preparing cru...

Mechanisms of resistance to organophosphates in Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) from Greece.

We investigated the mechanisms conferring resistance to methyl-parathion (44-fold) and to methomyl (8-fold) in Tetranychus urticae from Greece by studying the effect of synergists on the resistance and the kinetic characteristics of various enzymes in a resistant strain (RLAB) and a susceptible reference strain (SAMB). It is shown that S,S,S-tributyl phosphorotrithioate, a synergist that inhibi...

Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) on Gerbera jamesonii Bolus and Hook (Asteraceae).

Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus and Hook,) is an ornamental Asteraceae of great commercial value, and pests can affect adversely its cultivation. More than 20 species of arthropods cause economic damage on gerbera, among them the two spotted mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, 1836 (Acari: Tetranychidae), considered a key pest for this and other ornamental plants. In this work, some life-cycle asp...

Reproductive parameters of Phytoseiulus macropilis (Banks) fed with Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Phytoseiidae, Tetranychidae) in laboratory.

Predatory mites that belong to the Phytoseiidae family are one of the main natural enemies of phytophagous mites, thus allowing for their use as a biological control. Phytoseiulus macropilis (Banks, 1904) (Acari: Phytoseiidae) is among the main species of predatory mites used for this purpose. Tetranychus urticae Koch, 1836 (Acari: Tetranychidae) is considered to be one of the most important sp...
